Budva, Kotor and Perast will be visited during this tour, as the most attractive sites on our coastline. Depending where you are staying we can start the tour. In Budva we will do the guided tour that lasts 45 minutes and some free time will be available so you can enjoy charm of Budva on your own.
After Budva, we will drive 30 minutes to UNESCO´s enlisted town of Kotor. In Kotor, guided tour will take 1,5 hours and we will visit 12th century Cathedral and Maritime museum. If you are an active traveler there is option of climbing the city walls and enjoying an amazing view of Kotor old town and its bay.
From Kotor day trip continues towards Perast, baroque pearl of Adriatic. After walking the streets of Perast we will take the boat that will bring us to manmade Island Our Lady of the Rock. The Island is famous for votive gifts that people were leaving to Our Lady. Impressive treasury and unique church will make the ending of Bay of Kotor visit.
During this day trip there is possibility of having lunch in some of local restaurants.
Cetinje, Njegusi and Lovcen will be visited during your second Montenegro day trip. We will start our drive from Budva up to the mountains of Montenegro, enjoying panorama of its Riviera. After 45 minutes we will arrive to Cetinje, the old royal capital of Montenegro. In Cetinje we are visiting royal palace that is telling the story of Montenegrin most famous dynasty Petrovic and their rule from 17th to 20th century. Since Cetinje is located in mountain area, some free time spent in fresh air will fulfill your impression!
After Cetinje we proceed to Lovcen Mountain National Park where beech and oak forests will wait for us. Driving through forest tunnels we will get to the top of the mountain (1660 m above sae level, 461 steps from parking lot) where mausoleum of Peter II Petrovic Njegos is located. Breathtaking view from mountain top and story of greatest Montenegrin poet and philosopher will help you understand Montenegrin spirit.
From Lovcen Mountain we will go to village Njegusi, famous for production of smoked ham and cheese. In local restaurant we will learn how they make it and of course taste it!
This day will finish with astonishing drive back to your hotel, by 25 switchbacks from where we will enjoy the best view of Kotor bay that you can get!
On day three, we are moving from the coastline to the north of Montenegro. On the way to Kolasin where we will overnight, our first stop will be at Skadar Lake National Park. This place is famous for being paradise for birds! Symbol of the lake is Pelican that, if we are lucky, we will have a chance to see during our 1,5 hours boat cruise. Beside birds watching through wetland vegetation we will have glass of famous Montenegrin wine to complete our moments on the lake.
After the lake visit we continue towards the north, passing our capital Podgorica and Monastery Moraca famous for well-preserved medieval fresco paintings. We will take a break visiting the monastery and continue to National Park Biogradska Gora. This site is known as one of the last rain forests in Europe and with its glacial lake represents one of the most popular National Parks of Montenegro.
This day will finish in Kolasin where not only we will enjoy mountain atmosphere but also traditional specialties from the north part of Montenegro.
On day four our day excursion goes to Durmitor National Park. On the way we are passing the deepest canyon of Europe, Canyon of Tara River. Its beauty and untouched wild nature are even recognized by UNESCO that protected this area as World Natural Heritage Site! So, during our drive we will make few stops to admire this stunning well-preserved scenery.
After 1 hour we will arrive to Djurdjevica Tara Bridge that connects two banks of this famous canyon! The bridge represents the masterpiece of Yugoslavian architecture, because when it was built it was the highest concrete bridge in Europe!
The bridge is also the entrance to National park Durmitor where we will spend the rest of the day. The Black Lake is its main attraction and 2 hours walk around is the best way to understand another face of Montenegro!
Last day will be relaxing return back to the coastline. We are taking different road so we can see the western part of Montenegro.
In this region Monastery Ostrog is situated and we will spend some time visiting it. The place where it was built makes it not only attractive for pilgrims but everyone passing this way. This will be the last piece of a puzzle that will make your Montenegrin experience complete!
